Zadig & Voltaire’s UK store portfolio under review

French retailer Zadig & Voltaire is reportedly undertaking a review into the future of its UK store portfolio.

The premium clothing brand has drafted in advisers from RSM Restructuring Advisory to assess its retail footprint, according to Property Week.

It operates seven stores in London, plus three concessions in Selfridges, one in Harrods and one in Harvey Nichols. An outlet store sells discounted items at Bicester Village. All locations have now reopened following the Covid-19 lockdown.

RSM Restructuring Advisory declined to comment on the story. The company is a leading audit, tax and consulting services, overseeing the administrations of fashion retailers including Forever 21 UK last year and Henri Lloyd in 2018.

Zadig & Voltaire is a popular fashion brand in the upscale ready-to-wear market. Founded in 1995, it operates approximately 400 stores and concessions in more than 30 countries worldwide.

The business generates retail sales of more than €350 million annually.

In January, the French brand received strategic investment from Peninsula, a European Private Equity investment management firm. The transaction involved the departure of TA Associates, which had become an investor in the firm in 2012. Founder Thierry Gillier remains the majority shareholder.

The company’s new CEO Remy Baume, who was brought in to replace Jean-Jacques Guével, has also become a shareholder.
