New fashion chain Miller & Monroe opens in former Vögele stores

Miller & Monroe is to take over the former locations of Charles Vögele, the Swiss fashion chain whose Dutch branches went bankrupt in January. The first two of more than 70 stores opened last weekend in Emmen and Hoogeveen, Het Financieele Dagblad reported.

Miller & Monroe will carry collections for men and women aged 40 and above. In addition to its own label, the chain will offer a selection of brands, such as Street One, Zeres, and Petrol. Alongside apparel, Dutch lifestyle brand Mica will also be on sale.

The new multi-brand store, which will also launch an online store, will be home to 38 shop-in-shops from Witteveen, another Dutch fashion chain that filed for bankruptcy earlier this year. The chain was taken over by Vidrea Retail.

Vidrea Retail currently owns both Miller & Monroe and Witteveen. In August, RTL Z reported that Vidrea Retail is owned by Dutch entrepreneur Phillipe Hes, the son of Lex Hes, who is the former owner of fashion stores Zaza and Skooter. The company first made headlines when it took over 90 of the 95 Vögele branches in the Netherlands.
