Milan Fashion Week is over, and all parties concerned have been left with a smile on their lips. The event held from February 21 to 27 in the Italian fashion capital, with 165 runway shows, presentations and related events, recorded strong growth in visitor numbers, and the mood was extremely buoyant.

“I believe the Italian fashion industry, the country’s second largest sector, showed a very powerful image of itself to the world. It's been an exhilarating week, with a huge attendance and a great deal of energy, and a programme full of events and shows. I’m very happy, and I think all those who belong to the fashion community feel the same,” said Carlo Capasa, president of the Italian Fashion Chamber, interviewed by FashionNetwork.com at the end of the Milanese event.

“The number of people who came to Milan on fashion week business was 20% higher than before the pandemic, generating a revenue for the allied sectors of over €70 million this week alone, with an estimate for the current year of over €200 million [up from €130 million in 2019]. The entire sector is growing, after closing 2022 with an aggregate revenue increase of 20%. And 2023 figures are already positive. We ought to be happy thinking about such a satisfactory performance, and look forward to future challenges, both on the runway front and in manufacturing terms,” added Capasa.
