Burberry names supply chain chief from Kering

Supply chain and product development executives are among the key roles in any fashion company these days and Burberry has just named a big-hitter who’s spent more than two decades with a variety of star luxury labels.

Klaus Bierbrauer has joined the British business as Chief Supply Chain and Industrial Officer, with immediate effect.

It’s a newly-created role in which Bierbrauer will lead Burberry’s supply chain and product development teams globally. Reflecting the posts’s importance, he’ll also join the Executive Committee and report directly to Burberry CEO Jonathan Akeroyd. 

As mentioned, he’s worked in supply chain and ready-to-wear operations roles for more than 20 years at Kering Group (mainly at Gucci — which he joined in 2001 — and Saint Laurent). But he was most recently COO of another UK-based luxury business, Kering’s Alexander McQueen. He began that role in September 2021.

Jonathan Akeroyd said of him: “Klaus has a wealth of experience in supply chain and industrialisation. Bringing our supply chain and product development teams together under his leadership will drive greater connectivity, while ensuring end-to-end ownership for delivery. I am delighted that Klaus will be joining our leadership team and I am excited about working closely with him to achieve our ambitions.”
