The Swiss luxury watch and jewelry company Bucherer, which operates a large store in Paris, has doubled its sales in five years, its CEO said in an interview published Saturday in Le Temps.

"Between 2009 and 2013, the company has doubled its turnover," said Guido Zumbühl in the columns of the Swiss daily, without going into details.

The very discreet, family-owned company is not publicly traded and is therefore not required to disclose its results.

Since 2009, when Zumbühl took control of the company, its workforce has gone from 1,100 to 1,700 employees today, he said.

"We have hired a hundred people for our store in Paris", he explained, noting that the house had also expanded in Germany, as well as in Lucerne, Switzerland’s leading tourist destination, where it is headquartered.

In April 2013, Bucherer opened its largest watch store in the world on boulevard des Capucines, near the Opera Garnier

Zumbühl has expressed his satisfaction with the store. "We're very happy. It was a big challenge and we have exceeded all of the goals we set for ourselves.”

“And our market share is growing in Place Vendome and the department stores, which make up a very competitive area,” he added.
