Shiseido Japan to merge with Shiseido Information Network

Japanese cosmetics company Shiseido said on Thursday it will merge with its technology-based unit, Shiseido Information Network.

The operation will allow Shiseido to improve its in-store devices including its cosmetic counseling devices, and promote the development of further innovations.

Shiseido offers a skin measurement service at selected counters, which gives users an understanding of their skin’s condition and problem areas. With this information, trained staff can give customers personalized recommendations based on their particular concerns.

The Tokyo-based company said after the transaction, which will come into effect in January 2017, Shiseido Information Network will be dissolved.

The merger will only have minor effects on the financial results for the year ending December 2016, the company added.
