Joan Smalls will design swimwear and lingerie for Walmart brand

The Puerto Rican supermodel will design a line of swimwear and lingerie for Smart & Sexy, with the pieces arriving in Walmart stores in the spring of 2018.

 
This will be Joan Smalls’ first time designing intimates, after having walked in numerous Victoria’s Secret fashion shows and starring in campaigns for the likes of Michael Kors and Balenciaga.
 
Smalls previously worked with Smart & Sexy when she starred in the brand’s spring 2017 campaign. The supermodel worked with the brand’s founder and CEO Ariela Balk in designing the new line of swimwear and intimates. Smalls said she was impressed with the brand’s accessibility, both in terms of its price point and wide range of sizes. Its bras retail for less than $15 and come in up a 46DDD.

Balk founded her company Ariela & Associates in 1997 before establishing the brand Smart & Sexy in 2007. As the company also produces Fruit of the Loom, it is one of the largest suppliers of bras for Walmart.
 
The Joan Smalls-designed collection will be sold at Walmart stores and Smart & Sexy’s online shop. In addition to design, the model will also soon be adding acting to her resume as she will star in the upcoming Netflix film Set It Up.
