House of Fraser warehouses reopen

House of Fraser’s warehouses in Milton Keynes and Wellingborough have reportedly reopened on Friday after a dispute with their operator forced the department store to cancel all online orders.

The warehouses, run by XPO Logistics, stopped processing orders last week due to a payment dispute following House of Fraser’s administration, which allowed the company to write off its debts.

Last week, XPO Logistics said it was owed £30.4m and instructed workers to “down tools” to force payment of its bills.

The move led to product shortages in some House of Fraser stores and forced the British department store chain to cancel and refund all online orders.

But it seems like the dispute has come to an end, after retail mogul Mike Ashley, who bought House of Fraser for £90 million just hours after it fell into administration, personally held talks with XPO Logistics.

The centres reopened on Friday to take receipt of concession deliveries, collect from suppliers and process stock to the stores, reported Retail Week. All other services will be resumed “a soon as possible”, according to a letter sent by HoF chief executive Alex Williams.
