Forever 21 x Taco Bell targets Gen Z

Taco Bell is taking a page out of fellow fast food company White Castle's playbook and has now partnered with Forever 21 to launch its first fashion collaboration of limited edition apparel and accessories.

Taco Bell's logo and branding will be featured prominently on the line which includes cropped hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets, graphic tees and bodysuits. There are men's, women's and kids pieces in the collection which Taco Bell is calling "affordable, creative, a little quirky and definitely fun."

According to a joint press release from Forever 21 and Taco Bell, the collection will be "inspired by iconic graphics that each brand is known for." Hot sauce packets serve as one of the sources of inspiration for the collection. The brands said in their joint statement, "Pops of color and distinctive illustrations...effortlessly bring the heat" to the line.

Taco Bell has developed a Generation Z cult following. High school students have created a social media movement by taking their senior pictures in Taco Bell restaurants. Its store on the Las Vegas Strip sells branded merchandise however this is the first official fashion line for Taco Bell.

Marisa Thalberg, Chief Marketing Officer of Yum Brands' Taco Bell Corp. said, "We've seen our fans get individually creative in expressing their love of Taco Bell through fashion, and we believe this collection with Forever 21 is going to be everything they expect from us extending the Taco Bell lifestyle to fashion."

Fashion and fast food are an unlikely pairing that is becoming more commonplace. In February, FashionNetwork.com reported that Taco Bell has teamed up with Canadian designer Hayley Elsaesser to make a "TaCoat" which is currently in development. Earlier this month, White Castle announced it would partner with Telfar to update uniforms and also launch a streetwear capsule next month.

Taco Bell x Forever 21 will preview October 10 in Downtown LA's Fashion District. It will officially launch at Forever 21 stores and online through Forever 21's e-commerce site on Wednesday, October 11.
