Dior has unveiled the ad campaign for its spring/summer 2017 collection, the first ready-to-wear line overseen by new creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri. In the spirit of the catwalk show last September, Dior said the Italian designer's feminist values play a key role in the project, designed by, with and for women.

As the first female creative director in the history of the French fashion house, has put women -- and, in particular, Dior femininity -- firmly in the spotlight for spring. The campaign shots are part of a wider project called The Woman Behind the Lens, which Dior describes as a corps of photographs taken exclusively by women.

Dior teamed with French photographer Brigitte Lacombe, known for her intimate celebrity portraits and for collaborations with the world's leading fashion magazines.

In a Dior statement, Lacombe described Dior's new creative director as "strong, direct, open and generous. [She has] a very clear idea about how women should be portrayed and looked at, which is a point of view that I share and understand."

The designer chose Ruth Bell -- who opened the runway show in September -- and her twin sister, May to convey her new vision in the campaign. The two young women, both with their own distinct styles, can be seen sporting an embroidered tulle dress, a tailored suit and a look inspired by fencing.
